New MD for Enviros/Carillion Consulting
12-Feb-09
The support services and construction group, Carillion, has appointed Richard Sykes as managing director for the consulting business unit - which includes Enviros (environmental consultancy and health & safety), TPS (architecture and engineering design) and Schal (project management).
Mr Sykes joins Carillion following an 18-year career with Taylor Woodrow Construction, and is currently the chairman of the Facilities Management Association (FMA). He will take over from current MD Peter Portlock, who retires in April 2009, overseeing the continuing integration of the consulting group companies. Enviros became part of Carillion in February 2008 following the PLC's acquisition of Alfred McAlpine.
Enviros marketing manager Nigel Clark commented that the appointment "demonstrates Carillion’s commitment to building its consulting capability while retaining the independent nature of the constituent brands. It provides us with a bright future for developing capabilities across the consulting spectrum and gives us a bit more ‘muscle’ in these challenging markets."
Carillion Consulting employs around 1,000 staff in total, mainly based in the UK.
