Porritt's replacement at SDC announced

Next month, William Day will replace Jonathon Porritt as chair of the UK Sustainable Development Commission (SDC). Day is former chief executive of Care International and a former chair of BBC Children in Need. He has also been “a faculty member” since 2004 of the Prince of Wales' business and the environment programme.

Porritt has been chair of SDC since its creation in 2000 and is one of the UK environmental community's leading and longest-standing figures. In recent years, he has increasingly called for economic restructuring along environmentally-sound and low-carbon lines.
