MottMac wins HK energy-efficient hospital design contract

The Hong Kong (HK) branch of consultancy Mott MacDonald has been chosen as building services consulting engineer for the expansion of Haven of Hope hospital in Kowloon. The project will require Mott MacDonald to develop an energy efficient design. Philip Chan, Mott MacDonald HK's buildings director, acknowledged that innovative thinking will be necessary to achieve an as energy efficient design as possible: “The project presents some interesting challenges in the application of energy efficient features for a hydrotherapy pool and natural lighting in the patient wards,” said Chan. The project is valued at HK$450 million and should be completed by the end of 2014.
