Environ publishes generic contam land assessment criteria
28-Jul-09
Environmental consultancy Environ has produced an updated suite of generic assessment criteria (GAC) for modelling the potential risks posed to human health from contaminated land and groundwater. Publication of the GAC serves to “reinforce” the consultancy's expertise in providing “commercially focussed and scientifically robust” advice to clients seeking to assess sites prior to redevelopment, says Environ.
Environ's GAC suite is based on the latest version of Clea, the human health risk assessment model, used by UK regulators, and includes “new physical, chemical and toxicology data”. Substances covered by the GAC include total petroleum hydrocarbons, volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls, heavy metals and cyanide.
