URS helps USA map flood risks
14-Aug-09
A joint venture that includes multinational consultancy URS has been commissioned by the US Federal Emergency Management Agency (Fema) to identify flood risks and provide mitigation planning and outreach.
The one year contract can be extended by up to four additional years and has a maximum value of $600 million. URS is one of three organisations that together comprise the joint venture that has won the Fema contract. Its partners are Dewberry and ESP Associates.
The joint venture – known as Risk Assessment, Mapping and Planning Partners (Rampp) – will produce digital “flood insurance rate maps” and will operate regional support centres offering technical services for flood insurance research and mitigation planning.
