Giant in the North: DNV steers towards green service growth

With its corporate base in Norway, but with offices in one hundred countries, Det Norske Veritas has ambitions to grow further still. Erin Gill hears about DNV’s sustainability-focused strategy

A visit to the idyllic campus headquarters of Det Norske Veritas (DNV) makes one thing crystal clear: Norway’s environment is considerably better managed, protected and, frankly, more amenable than many of the environments in which DNV’s staff and its clients operate. With a waterfront HQ on the outskirts of Oslo, DNV is simultaneously one of Norway’s best known companies and a rather low key organisation – the latter emphasised by the fact that there are no fences between DNV’s campus and the waterfront parkland on either side of it where children swim during summer, and where local residents walk their dogs.
