Two Tomorrows rates hotel groups
02-Oct-09
In the first of a new series of sector-based reports ranking the sustainability of leading companies, UK-based sustainability consultancy Two Tomorrows has published a league table of the world’s ten largest hotel groups.
The Two Tomorrows' Value Rating is designed to be a new tool for those seeking to assess how well leading companies are managing pressing social and environmental issues. Every two months, a new sector rating report will examine the largest companies in a globally-significant industry.
Two Tomorrow' Value Rating reports will examine companies’ performance in five key areas: strategy, governance, engagement, value chain and innovation. Assessments are based on companies’ public disclosures, including their annual report and accounts, sustainability, CSR and corporate citizenship reports, and information on their websites.
Accor has come top of the hotel groups league table because it "recognised the key sustainability challenges facing the hotels sector" and "has also designed a comprehensive approach to managing them", concludes Two Tomorrows. However, "when it comes to many of the other large hotel operators, the news is not quite so good".
