URS-led consortium wins US DoE contract
A team led by URS will provide research and engineering services to the research and development division of the US National Energy Technology Laboratory (Netl), which forms part of the US Department of Energy (DoE) Office of Fossil Energy. The contract is for two years, with an option to extend it for a further three. The contract stipulates a maximum value of $322 million over five years. Working with URS will be the Midwest Research Institute and five universities. Commenting on the contract win, URS' Washington division president Tom Zarges said: “We are pleased to have been chosen for this important assignment to provide the NETL, one of the nation’s premiere energy laboratories, with research and engineering expertise needed to develop, manage, and transfer clean energy technologies”.
