WSP Environment & Energy has issued details of two separate life cycle assessment (LCA) projects it has been commissioned to carry out.

The first, which is ongoing, is a study for WRAP, the government's Waste and Resources Action Programme, of the life cycle impacts of a wide range of electrical appliances. Where data are not available, WSP is using its own Eco-fly online tool that enables product designers to assess LCA impacts.

The second project, which has been completed, involved construction of an LCA model for ICM, the largest provider of production process technology to the US fuel ethanol industry. Following construction of the model, the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory commissioned WSP and ICM to conduct a comparative study of its own model with two other fuel ethanol LCA models.
