Grontmij wins wind energy contracts in Egypt & Thailand

Dutch-owned consultancy Grontmij has won work on a 200-MW wind farm project in the El-Zayt region of Egypt and a 50MW wind farm development in Lam Thakong, Thailand. The combined value of the contracts to Grontmij is €2.15 million. For the Egyptian project, Grontmij's tasks will include contract design management and “implementation of avoidance measures with respect to the many migratory birds which pass through the region twice a year in large numbers and at relatively low altitude”. The Thai project represents one of the first “large-scale onshore wind farms in the country,” notes Grontmij.
