Countries honour Copenhagen Accord deadline

Carbon pledges for 2020 submitted by major economies keep hope of climate agreement alive

Major carbon emitting countries have met a deadline included in the Copenhagen Accord to register their 2020 emissions targets with the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). By meeting the end of January deadline major emitting nations have signalled their support for the non-binding accord and their intention to push hard to reach a binding global climate treaty in Mexico later this year.
