Hyder UK enviro services integrated into other BUs
05-Jul-10
The UK division of Hyder Consulting has undergone reorganisation, Environment Analyst has learned. The process has involved dispersal of its environmental consultancy business and the integration of environmental services into other areas of the business. Hyder UK is now organised around three sectoral businesses: utilities, land development and buildings, and transport.
Hyder UK's environmental consultancy business was previously led by Stephanie Wray (Environment Analyst 01-May-09). Wray now has a newly-created, part-time role, which according to Hyder, allows her to promote “our environmental credentials and act as an ambassador for Hyder”.
A substantial proportion of Hyder UK's environmental consultancy services now form part of its land development and buildings division, led by Andrew Henderson. These include: environmental impact assessment, strategic environmental assessment, air and noise, ecology, arboriculture, landscape and cultural heritage, and material science. Other environmental services are now included in Hyder UK's utilities business, led by Neil Kemble. These include: integrated water management, hydrogeology, resources management and waste management.
Hyder’s environmental consultants have recently worked on significant infrastructure projects, including Crossrail and the London 2012 Olympic Park.
* Another development amongst the community of senior figures in the UK environmental consultancy market is Golder's Julian Jones' decision to take early retirement. Having served as managing director of Golder Associates' UK business until earlier this year, Jones has chosen to take early retirement (Environment Analyst). His successor, Mark Gilligan, said: “Julian certainly left his imprint on the company and he will be sadly missed around our offices, however, he will still remain available to advise myself and the rest of our UK and European management team on a consultancy basis, so we won’t be losing his enthusiasm and experience altogether”.
