Environ launches database for REACH and RoHS compliance

Environ logo 24-Oct-08

Environ has joined with COCIR, the European trade body representing healthcare equipment manufacturers, to promote a database of supplier declarations of substances found in components. The database will help manufacturers comply with an EU Directive on the restriction of hazardous substances (RoHS) in electrical and electronic equipment, and with REACH, the EU Regulation on the registration, evaluation and authorisation of chemicals. Operated by Environ, the database, known as BOMcheck, is already used by Siemens. Access is free for manufacturers that write to their suppliers to say they must comply with their REACH requirements by joining BOMcheck.
