Environment Agency welcomes "high" standards for eco-towns
04-Nov-08The Environment Agency has welcomed the "high environmental standards" proposed in the draft planning guidance for eco-town developments published for consultation today by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG). The draft Planning Policy Statement includes standards to ensure a range of water efficiency, flood risk management and waste minimisation measures are met. The proposals were also welcomed by the UK Green building Council. DCLG also published a summary of responses to the consultation earlier this year on the Government's vision for eco-towns and the shortlist of proposed locations, together with a Sustainability Appraisal report on the draft PPS and the proposed locations by consultancy Scott Wilson.
