Workload in the CGL Harrogate office has been steadily increasing and we are now in a position where we need to strengthen this established team with an enthusiastic and dynamic Principal Chartered Geotechnical Engineer looking to develop their skills and career. This follows on from having recently recruited four new members of staff in our regional offices and strengthened our management team at Head Office.

Our clients, which include land developers, infrastructure providers, major contractors and associated professionals, commission us on projects that vary in size and nature across the United Kingdom. CGL is enjoying an increase in demand from our strong client base, which is leading to an expanding workload. In 2011, we received a major award for “imaginative, innovative and bold” value engineering from Ground Engineering.

The successful candidate will have graduated with a degree in civil engineering or engineering geology, will have had 8+ years’ experience with a specialist consultancy, or in a geotechnical/geoenvironmental department of a larger consultancy and be Chartered. Candidates with a further specialist post graduate degree will have a distinct advantage in the selection process. You will have a sound understanding of UK geology and/or UK construction practice and be looking to build on your prior experience by taking on challenging projects and more responsibility. Demonstration of experience and expertise in the assessment of ground conditions, geotechnical design and modelling, and relevant codes and standards will be essential.

Knowledge of geoenvironmental engineering and its interaction with geotechnical design will be necessary and excellent report writing skills will be required. You will be expected to combine site work with the challenge of design work and analysis and project management in a dynamic office environment.

We are able to offer you:

A competitive salary and performance bonus

Excellent project experience

A stimulating and friendly working environment

Opportunities to progress your career.
