AECOM understands the value of our natural environment and the need to minimize impacts from society and industry. We are currently looking to recruit Senior Ecologists into our Leeds and Altrincham offices. Examples of projects include those ranging from infrastructure through to renewable and habitat enhancement programmes. |

The role will involve: -
Working independently and undertaking/planning all levels of protected species surveys and botanical and Phase 1 Habitat surveys. -
Managing teams of ecological surveyors in the field -
Undertake field surveys, analysis and evaluation of results, Ecological Impact Assessments, design and implementation of mitigation strategies including EPS licence applications. -
Scoping, preparing fee proposals and project managing a range of small to large scale projects. -
Building/maintaining client relationships -
Mentoring junior ecologists within AECOM. Candidates for these roles would be expected to have: -
Some field based experience or Ecology related qualifications, you are likely to hold a BSc/MSc in Ecology/related PhD advantageous -
Full membership of IEEM, chartered status ideal -
A minimum of 5 years consultancy or similar experience -
Excellent field skills and be able to carry out a range of ecological surveys -
Great created newt licence essential, other licences desirable -
Experience of writing and submitting EPS licence applications and implementation of mitigation works -
Excellent management skills, to be able to manage a varied workload and supervise/manage large teams of surveyors in the field and provide advice and training as required -
Experience of managing and delivering complex ecological projects, on time and within budget -
The ability to prepare and review technical reports, including EcIA -
Thorough understanding of UK legislation/guidance and planning policy and to be confident when advising clients on ecological issues during the planning process, as well as in liaising with statutory bodies and planning authorities -
