Summary ADAS, Winner of the ‘Best Environmental Consultancy to Work for in 2009 and 2010, has a vacancy for a Renewables Project Manager on a permanent contract. The post will be based in our Leeds (Thorpe Park) office. Salary in the range of £28,906 - £32,118 p.a, dependant on qualifications and/or experience.

Purpose of role:

To manage the planning and environmental assessment process for small / medium scale renewables projects. To contribute to sales and developing business as required.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Manage development pipeline and track progress of sites through the planning process.

  2. Coordinate and submit planning applications, primarily for single turbine wind schemes.

  3. Source, instruct and manage relevant technical experts (both internal and external).

  4. Carry out EIA screening and scoping.

  5. Consult with planning authorities, statutory and non-statutory consultees.

  6. Prepare supporting documentation, including planning statements, design & access statements and environmental appraisals.

  7. Manage public consultation processes.

  8. Coordinate planning appeal process where necessary.

  9. Establish and maintain good relationships with clients, investors and landowners.

  10. Sell renewable EIA work through quotation/tender writing, relationship building, client visits and presentations

  11. Facilitate contract specific financial processes, for example invoicing, forecasting and management of financial data.

  12. Other work as requested

Education/Qualifications/Experience/Skills

Essential:

  • Five years’ experience in EIA and / or town & country planning, preferably in a commercial environment.

  • A degree in a relevant environmental subject, for example; Environmental Science, EIA, Town & Country Planning, Environmental Engineering or equivalent.

  • Good generalist knowledge of potential environmental and technical constraints affecting renewable development.

  • Track record of successfully selling EIA work and building relationships with clients.

  • Good report writing and time management skills.

  • Excellent project management skills with a demonstrable track record of delivering work on time and to budget.

  • Knowledge of UK planning and development control procedures.

  • Numerate and proficient in the use of MS Word and Excel and in the use of email and the internet.

  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • A second qualification in a relevant subject.

  • Strong renewables focus with knowledge of the Feed-in Tariff and Renewables Obligations subsidy mechanisms.

  • Accreditation or qualification in a recognised project management discipline (eg, PRINCE2, APM).

  • Experience of completing feasibility assessments for renewables projects.

  • Membership of a relevant professional organisation (e.g. IEMA, RTPI etc).
