LUC/GSK win RDA sustainabilty contract

Land Use Consultants (LUC) and GSK have been selected by the East Midlands Development Agency to determine the environmental limits to sustainable economic growth in the region. The study was commissioned in response to the draft policy statement in regional strategies, issued by the government in August, which says regional strategies must deliver sustainable economic growth. This is defined as “economic growth that can be sustained and is within environmental limits, but also enhances the environment and social welfare, and avoids greater extremes in future economic cycles”. Part-funded by Defra, the study will be of interest to other regions, says LUC.
