Jacobs wins LEED building refurb project
Jacobs Engineering has announced that the US General Services Administration has chosen it to manage the modernisation of a major federal government building in Houston, Texas. One goal of the four-year refurbishment project will be for the GT “Mickey” Leland building to achieve a silver rating under the terms of the US Green Building Council's leadership in energy and environmental design (LEED) certification programme. Refurbishment of the 24-year-old building, which occupies a full city block, is being funded by the federal government's fiscal stimulus package, via the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.
