Summary May Walters is a boutique headhunting consultancy specialising in placing senior individuals within the environmental sector. An opportunity has arisen with our client to take a leading role in the acoustics division in a growing multi-disciplinary consultancy.
Details

Our client is a multi disciplinary consultancy with a UK and international presence and a track record organic and acquisitive growth. The group has a diverse client base within the especially within energy, transport & infrastructure and development sectors where they offer a variety of environmental services from planning through health & safety through ecology and water management.   The established acoustics division operates with teams who service both environmental and buildings projects from a number of locations and deal with clients both within the international and domestic arena.

An opportunity has been identified for an individual to take a lead role to develop a new team in the UK combining the buildings and environmental acoustics division of the organisation.  Responsibilities would include;

  • Oversee the efficient delivery of projects both in the UK and internationally
  • Help develop and implement the strategy for integration of the disparate teams into a functioning business unit
  • Set expectations and targets and implement those within the team
  • Mentor and lead team members, provide technical input and guidance
  • Develop and strengthen client relationships
  • Represent the team at group level to Identify strategic and international opportunities

The right applicant could be based anywhere within the UK as the group has numerous UK offices, albeit the team is spread over the UK and domestic work currently concentrates in the south east and midlands.  It is envisaged that the successful candidate would;

  • Have appropriate qualifications and industry accreditations
  • Have a good technical understanding of acoustics (could be either environmental or building oriented but would have an appreciation of both)
  • Be able to demonstrate building strong client relationships
  • Have a strong track record of financial management of projects, ideally multidisciplinary in nature
  • Have experience in line management and development and a good supportive team ethic

This is a rare opportunity to develop a new team culture in an organisation which has established resource, processes and client relationships.  A proactive nature, willingness to travel both in the UK and potentially abroad would be a pre-requisite and in return our client would provide a competitive salary together with the opportunity to expand your skillset and make a mark in the industry.  Clearly interest would be welcomed from those who have a track record of this, although interest is also welcomed from individuals who consider the role to be a next step in their career and would be hungry to make a success of the venture.
