Australia's SMEC has signed a memorandum of understanding with South American engineering consulting group Integral SA to jointly pursue future opportunities in the region.

With offices in Colombia, Panama, Dominican Republic and Peru, Integral has been offering consultancy - including environmental services - across the region for more than 60 years focused on the study, design, construction, supervision, and management of infrastructure and other large-scale projects across the energy, transportation, mining, oil & gas, and water utility industries.

The partnership, which will be led by the SMEC's asset management division, forms part of wider ambitions to further diversify its service offering and increase its geographical footprint throughout the Latin America.

SMEC, which became part of the Singaporean Surbana Jurong Group in 2016 (EA 17-Nov-16), has made no secret of its desire to grow in the region, as recently underlined by market director (water & environment, Australia and New Zealand) Bob Tilbury in a recent interview with Environment Analyst (EA 24-Jul-18).
