The Role:

We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced Marine Environmental Consultants to join our team providing planning and EIA services on many of the world’s largest offshore windfarms in UK waters.  We currently have opportunities in our offices in both Devon and in central Glasgow.

Your previous career experience will have provided experience in the marine sector working on development projects in the UK.  Your role will build on this experience by applying your knowledge working with the wider GoBe team and directly with our clients, problem solving and representing the Company in client offices, and regulator and statutory stakeholder meetings.

Your main areas of work within the role would be:

  • The provision of project specific and strategic advice;
  • Managing and undertaking Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), environmental appraisals and Habitats Regulations assessments;
  • Supporting the delivery of projects within the UK (principally Scotland, England and Wales) Consent and Planning systems;
  • Managing the delivery of consent compliance (post consent) through the pre-construction, construction and operational phases of offshore wind farm projects;
  • Business development through the identification and development of opportunities with new or existing clients; and
  • General support to the Senior Management Team, other project managers and the wider GoBe team.

Key Requirements:

You will need to be an efficient worker and enjoy the challenge of a growth-orientated environment able to work in a team and, at times, independently. You will provide support and advice to your colleagues as well as our clients, be able to proactively seek business development opportunities, and contribute to the continuing growth and development of the Company.

You will have:

  • A degree level qualification, but preferably MSc, in a relevant marine environmental sciences discipline;
  • Proven experience in marine development/EIA consultancy (minimum 1 years +) or equivalent;
  • Experience of related legislative requirements (e.g. Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA), Water Framework Directive (WFD), European Protected Species (EPS) and Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ));
  • Proven project management skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communication, organisational and time management skills;
  • Experience of the technical review of reports and quality assurance of deliverables;
  • A focused, professional and articulate manner with strong inter-personal skills and an ability to communicate at all levels;
  • Self-motivation with an ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a growing team;
  • Willingness to travel within the UK.
  • A proven ability of applying your knowledge in a related marine sciences discipline;
  • Membership of a relevant professional institute (or ability to demonstrate that you are working towards membership).
