British-headquartered engineering, science and technology consultancy BMT Group has teamed with Malaysian building consultancy practice, Fenestra Malaysia. They have established Venturi Asia, a new test facility in Kuala Lumpur, which they hope will become the region’s premier centre of wind engineering support.
According to BMT, the facility will be the only fully commercial facility of its kind in South East Asia – supporting the rapid urbanisation of the region, and bringing world-class wind tunnel testing facilities and environmental physics’ support.
Chief executive of BMT Sarah Kenny said: "This new testing facility supports BMT’s new business model of harnessing a range of top-scale wind tunnel facilities through partnering arrangements across the world. With the teaming with Fenestra Malaysia we are expanding our network and reach across Asia, that was consolidated this year by the opening of a new office in Kuala Lumpur which co-located BMT’s cross-functional teams and activities in the city."
Fenestra Malaysia provides a targeted range of niche professional services in facade engineering and ecologically sustainable design aimed at the building sector and has worked on some of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic buildings.
Last year, BMT opened a new office in Kuala Lumpur Sentral, "to bring together its services and provide better facilities for its burgeoning number of Malaysian clients" (EA 14-May-18).
