In order to fully align to its strategy and simplify the organisation, Sweco has adjusted its business area structure to include Sweco Belgium and Sweco United Kingdom.

The two new business areas join existing area segments, namely Denmark, Finland, Germany & Central Europe, Netherlands, Norway and Sweden (its home market).

Sweco has previously outlined its core strategy focused on achieving both organic and acquisitive growth in Northern Europe on the back of the region’s "solid economic development" (EA 24-Jul-18).

The restructure will see Erwin Malcorps and Max Joy, country managing directors of Belgium and the UK respectively, become members of the Sweco executive team.

At the same time, the multidisciplinary consultancy has also announced that current president of Sweco Western Europe, Bo Carlsson, is retiring from the executive team and will take up a position as a senior adviser reporting directly to Sweco president and CEO Åsa Bergman.

The new business area structure is effective immediately and will be reflected in financial reporting from the start of 2019.
