Redcar steelworks site to get £14m investment

The Government believes the investment in the South Tees Development Corporation will help attract £500m of private sector investment and open a new manufacturing era in the Tees Valley.

Work on the site, which also once housed Sahaviriya Steel Industries, will involve remediating the land for development, establish access for construction and utilities, and building a spine road and roundabout.

"Our investment of £14m into this site will help transform this derelict piece of land into a burgeoning new industrial quarter, which is expected to create 500 new jobs and attract an extra half a billion pounds of private investment," says Berry.

Construction will begin in Q1 2019 and the first commercial tenants will be expected on-site from 2021.
