Van Walt Ltd is small but ambitious business with a well-established name in the environmental sector. We have a wealth of experience servicing the equipment needs of our customers and offer a range of market leading products that we sell, support and maintain, in addition to a very successful and growing equipment rental operation. More recently we have started to develop and produce our own data collection equipment, specified in-house to meet the needs of our customers and manufactured in the UK. This is a growing and developing division which we are looking to expand. The right candidate will use their experience in the environmental sector; understanding of what it is to be a customer and vision for the future to help us develop and grow the Van Walt business.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Business Planning
  • Business Development for new, key product developments
  • Staff “Motivator” for Spain and New Zealand offices
  • Financial oversight for Group
  • Supplier contracts and maintenance
  • Key Customer Contact
  • Technical Sales
  • Developing pricing strategies
  • Creating communication & brand strategies
  • IT strategy
  • Product development
  • ISO Supervision
  • Setting & evaluating targets
  • Overall business management

Knowledge:

  • Post-graduate qualifications in relevant subject matter and substantial relevant work experience
  • Knowledge and experience of management processes
  • Experience of regulator and/or stakeholder engagement
  • Knowledge of environmental field equipment.

Skills:

  • Excellent organisational skills with proven success in effective project delivery
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to secure trust at all levels of an organisation and across different cultures
  • Problem solving and good understanding of external impacts on a business
  • Confident and effective presentation skills
  • Ability to coach and motivate others in achieving shared goals.

Experience:

If you want to join us in this senior position, you will have at least 10 years’ experience in the environmental research sector working with the type of equipment we manufacture and sell. With a related degree to MSc level, portfolio of project experience and a member of a professional association, you will be comfortable working across a range of disciplines to improve business outcomes.
