LUC’s Ecology team comprises 15 skilled, experienced and passionate Ecologists. We work both as a national resource and as local teams to deliver exciting, challenging and rewarding projects for our clients. Our team is united by a passion for ecology, an ambition to achieve sustainable development and an enjoyment of working together.

Our Ecology team has ambitious plans for growth and we are seeking talented individuals to fill Associate Ecologist roles in our London, Bristol and Manchester offices. As members of the Ecology senior team, our new Associate Ecologists will be involved in all aspects of our work.

Successful candidates will work with our Director of Ecology and other senior managers to develop new business in all parts of the UK, while managing and delivering an existing portfolio of exciting and challenging projects.

Successful candidates in London and Bristol will hold line management and mentoring responsibilities for less experienced colleagues.

These roles will be of particular interest to candidates currently working for small businesses that may not have the resources to support your ambition, or large consultancies where your voice doesn’t seem to be heard. More information about the range of projects delivered by our Ecology team can be found on our website www.landuse.co.uk.

The salary for this role will be in the range of £35k to £45k (depending on experience and location) plus benefits package, including flexible working options, generous training budget and opportunities to work across the UK.

About you:

You will have a degree and /or a post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline, and full membership of CIEEM is essential.

Your skills will include Phase 1 Habitat Survey of a range of habitats, with verifiable knowledge of higher plants.

Demonstrable skills in at least one faunal taxonomic group (such as bats or other mammals, reptiles and amphibians, birds) would be highly advantageous, as would a NE licence for one or more species.

Your experience to date should include at least one role with a consultancy and within a wide range of development sectors, for example transport and housing.

Your experience should include the full range of report production, including EcIA and BREEAM, as well as a demonstrable track record of attracting and winning new work in the UK.

You will need excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to write confidently and present reports internally and to clients, and strong organisational skills with the ability to manage tasks and time, using initiative.
