Details

Wright Environment Ltd specialises in the provision of ecology support services across the UK. We work primarily with private companies, landowners and developers, working across all areas of ecological survey, mitigation and monitoring and are currently involved in housing, commercial and national infrastructure developments.

We are looking for ecologists at all levels of experience to help with a variety of surveys throughout the 2019 survey season. The majority of surveys are likely to be in the Midlands region but project work at a national level is also possible. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a large number of ecologists on a wide variety of survey types and would suit both experienced, licensed ecologists as well as those looking to gain experience.

The roles offer the benefit of home based working throughout the season and would suit freelance ecologists seeking seasonal work, although a permanent position may also be available.

Experienced candidates should hold great crested newt and/or bat survey licenses, be competent in identifying habitats and assessing suitability for protected and notable species and have good knowledge of all key wildlife legislation. Experience of reptile surveys and other species groups is also of interest.

Less experienced applicants should have some prior experience working with these species while under the supervision of a license holder but consideration will also be given to recent graduates with limited relevant experience.

The work will primarily be field based but will require reporting of field data on a daily/weekly basis and although working under the direction of the Director and other ecologists as appropriate, successful candidates will need a high level of professional competency, team working and organisational skills and with the ability to work independently when required. Applicants should be enthusiastic, motivated and reliable and able to record and report field data accurately, efficiently and methodically. Good communication skills and knowledge and compliance with safe working practices are essential.

Successful candidates will be expected to organise their own workload and liaise with other ecologists as necessary to schedule and complete field surveys. More senior candidates will be expected to provide direction to less experienced ecologists in the field on occasion.

Candidates should ideally be members of CIEEM or be working towards membership and have a relevant degree. Candidates must have a full, clean drivers license and use of a fully insured vehicle, be competent in the use of MS office software, have a reliable personal computer with up to date word and excel software, and have the right to work in the UK.

If you are interested in any of these roles please get in touch and send your CV and a brief cover letter highlighting your suitability for the role to recruitment@wright-environment.com.
