Galliford Try to deliver £20m Burton-on-Trent scheme

The Environment Agency has awarded £19.9m for the project, which entails repairing, replacing, and raising 4km of flood embankments and walls to protect 4,500 homes from flooding along the River Trent.

The protection zone also includes a leisure centre, industrial estate, school, and Tesco supermarket. Works will begin at once and are slated for completion in early 2021.

"The award is the result of a new way of working based on a collaborative approach rather than competitive bidding, which will add value and and deliver long lasting benefits to the community," says Ian Jones, managing director of Galliford Try’s Environment business unit.
