We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to be the Council’s lead officer for contaminated land. Working in a small Pollution Control team you will be responsible for the implementation of the Council’s Contaminated Land Inspection Strategy, responding to planning consultations and assessing accompanying reports, investigating complaints, providing advice to internal departments, developers and public on contaminated land matters and various project work. The successful candidate will have a degree or similar in a relevant science or environmental subject with good knowledge of contaminated land management. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential along with an ability to work unsupervised, prioritise demanding workloads while maintaining high standards and project management. Knowledge of GIS, experience of evaluating site investigation reports and knowledge of the planning regime are desirable.
