Nineteen cities make net zero carbon commitment

The mayors of 19 cities have also committed to ensuring all the buildings in their cities will meet net zero carbon requirements by 2050.

These cities include Copenhagen, Johannesburg, London, Los Angeles, Montreal, New York City, Newburyport, Paris, Portland, San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Monica, Stockholm, Sydney, Tokyo, Toronto, Tshwane, Vancouver, and Washington DC.

To help make this happen, these cities will: create a roadmap; develop programmes and incentives to support this; and report annually on the progress towards the target.

The Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment will officially launch on 13 September.
