The range of services provided includes the assessment and remediation of contaminated sites, decommissioning and demolition management, water resource assessment, environmental, social and health impact assessments (ESHIA) integrated water management, geotechnical engineering, materials processing and management and other related services.

This vacancy is for a Consultant to deliver contaminated land assessment and remediation projects based in our London (Brentford) Office. This is a full time, permanent (40 hours per week) position and will be part of our Decommissioning and Restoration practice. The successful applicant will work with our clients bringing technical know-how to the successful delivery of projects whilst working closely with our two other main offices in Bristol and Leeds.

Depending on candidate suitability and preferences there is also scope to deliver project work both in the UK and
overseas.

Core Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Preparation of technical reports, including desk studies, site investigation reports, risk assessments, remediation options appraisals and remediation designs
  • Data review, data management and interpretation
  • Organising and managing field work including sub-contractors on site
  • Undertaking environmental monitoring and sampling activities
  • Preparation of project HSSE plans and method statements
  • Remediation supervision and verification activities
  • Compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Managing project health and safety on site including preparation of project HSSE plans and method statements.

The following skills and experience will be required:

  • Experience of delivering contaminated land assessment and remediation projects on sites in the UK.
  • Previous professional experience required.
  • Proven ability to write high quality concise technical reports and manage this process.
  • Logical and clear thinking.
  • Presenting, analysing and interpreting data.
  • Knowledge of the contaminated land assessment process, hydrogeology, contaminant fate and transport, development of site conceptual models, analytical methodologies and sampling procedures
  • Ability to manage HSSE aspects of site work and to lead the HSSE culture of a project.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with clients, colleagues and contractors.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Post graduate qualifications in a relevant subject (e.g. Geology, Hydrogeology, Geochemistry, or Environmental Sciences);
  • Evidence of continuing professional development, including Chartership (or working towards this); and
    IT skills – MS Office suite, hydrogeological assessment applications.
  • Suitable driving licence a necessity. UK based and clean preferable.

Overall, this position would be suited to an ambitious individual with a willingness to undertake a demanding role, often on a fast-track project schedule with a view to developing their career within the field of environmental consultancy.
