Creation, innovation, collaboration and helping others: these are the activities that inspire employees’ passion for their work, according to a presentation by enterprise software company BST Global at the firm’s ‘Journey to Project Intelligence’ event.
BST Global, which specialises in digital solutions for architecture, engineering and consultancy (AEC) firms, was presenting the latest incarnation of its enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform, which it says will free up time for staff to engage in the things they enjoy doing by facilitating a more efficient, more intuitive and more collaborative data-driven project management process.
The latest release, named BST11, stands out for incorporating artificial intelligence, machine learning and predictive technology to help AEC project managers tackle their daily challenges and enable improved productivity from their teams.
Before designing this new generation of its flagship ERP, BST conducted focus group research with external project managers to ensure the new architecture and tools would meet their needs.
As well as functionality to help optimise the balance between the key elements of a successful project – money, time and risk – the platform is equipped with tools directly tailored to the AEC industry. These are designed to address the "stagnant state of key metrics like median profitability and utilisation" – both of which have remained stubbornly level for the industry overall over the last 15 years, according to BST Global’s CEO, Javier A. Baldor.
Offering a sneak pre-release peek into the software’s latest evolution, Baldor, together with Chief Product Officer Debbie Preacher, gave a demo of the software in use through a typical day in the life of an AEC project manager, showing the perspectives, graphics and data views available to individual users.
BST11, they say, will enable project managers to "trade in their reactive, accounting-focused approach for a proactive, data-driven and intuitive platform".
The upgrade is designed around three productivity attributes: consumer-grade, smart and collaborative. These, claims the company, mean firstly that the experience is more intuitive to use, incorporating "beautifully designed" micro apps and visually bold interfaces. Secondly, the AI and machine learning functionality enables predictive insights that assist with "smart decisions". These can change the trajectory of projects in real time based on the outcomes of similar projects, alerting team members to potential roadblocks and anomalies. And finally, the platform helps dispersed teams to collaborative more productively and effectively on project planning and decision-making.
"We believe we can save you time so you can spend that time doing more of what you love. We believe we can give you more intelligent information to help you make better decisions. We believe we can help you to collaborate with and engage your team better. The combination of these three things will deliver better project outcomes and a healthier business and consultancy overall," concluded Baldor.
A strategic upgrade journey for existing clients to BST11 will be announced soon, with new functionality and micro apps also in the pipeline.
