AECOM to work on first BREEAM development in China

AECOM has been appointed as the BREEAM assessor for a new development in the TEDA (Tianjin Economic - Technological Development Area) modern service district of Tianjin city in north-eastern China, which will be the first BREEAM registered development in China. A range of low carbon solutions will be incorporated in the development's design, including passive design features, high performance building envelope, automatic external blinds, light tubes, a liquid dehumidifying air conditioning system, ground source heat pumps, and renewable energy technologies such as solar panels and an integrated wind turbine. AECOM describes itself as the world’s leading BREEAM assessor organisation, and co-developed with BRE the original BREEAM methodology in 1990. Since then, it has carried out over 600 assessments and says it has more qualified assessors than any other organisation.
