Sweco wins hydropower renewal work
Swedish-based consultancy Sweco has recently won two hydropower contracts with a combined value of almost €3.5 million. The contracts focus on the upgrading of ageing Swedish hydro-electric infrastructure and are designed to increase output. For the mouth of Lake Storsjön, Sweco will design a new power plant to replace the existing Hissmofors plant, operated by Jämtkraft. The consultancy will also design a new slipway and floodgates for the Bergeforsen power plan, owned by Vattenfall and E.On. “Sweco’s engineers were highly sought after... when Sweden’s hydropower resources were developed. Today, our ... expertise in the hydropower area is a valuable asset in the ongoing process of renewal,” commented president of Sweco's Swedish operations, Eva Nygren.
