Arcadis wins Chilean mine tailings management contracts

Two “major” contracts to deliver consultancy and engineering services for mine tailings disposal projects in Chile have been announced by Arcadis. The work will include permitting advice as well as “engineering of tailings transportation... water recirculation systems and tailings dams”. Environment Analyst understands that Arcadis is not able to name the client(s) or provide information about the type of mining operations involved, however, the Dutch-headquartered consultancy says that the combined value of the two contracts is US$10 million and that the projects should last about 14 months.
