Atkins wins Chilterns Railways design contract

A wide range of Atkins staff, including ecologists and environmental engineers, will work on the Evergreen 3 project, designed to upgrade the Chiltern Railways line between London Marylebone and Birmingham Moor Street station and reduce journey times by 20%. Described by Atkins as “currently one of the UK's most important and technically challenging rail modernisation programmes”, completion of Evergreen 3 in 2011 will offer an alternative West Coast route while Birmingham New Street station is being redeveloped. Atkins is lead consultant on the latter project.
