Summary We currently have an opportunity for a Principal Environment Consultant, Land Quality to join our Environmental teams based in Peterborough. We require someone who can proactively contribute to our in-house technical work, ensuring that it is of the quality expected and required by our internal and external clients.
Details

You will need to be an efficient worker and enjoy the challenge of a growth-orientated environment, working in a team and, at times, independently.  The role will require close working with members of the various environmental teams across the UK and in Europe, as well as with staff across other Business Lines.  You will contribute proactively to ensure consulting services are consistently delivered to the highest standards, meeting and exceeding clients’ needs.

The successful candidate will have a technical background in a geo-environmental science with substantial experience of environmental consultancy. You must be able to demonstrate experience in the assessment and management of potentially contaminated sites, with comprehensive knowledge of Contaminated Land legislation and guidance.

The role requires a close working relationship with other land quality, water and waste management specialists, and the provision of land support and advice across the business. In particular, the role requires the Senior Consultant to be able to:

  • apply commercial and project management skills to ensure effective execution and delivery of land quality projects and the land quality elements of multi-disciplinary projects through planning and post-consent/delivery phases;
  • support the development of our land quality knowledge base within the UK and assist in the development of new clients in key strategic markets, especially the development sector, and the industrial and energy sectors; and
  • provide leadership and co-ordination in the production of tenders and proposals to new and existing clients.

You will be expected to coordinate and lead in a variety of work, including office based activities such as Preliminary Risk Assessments, generic quantitative risk assessments for human health, controlled waters and ground gas interpretative reporting, development of remedial strategies and the design of site characterisation studies including monitoring strategies and the production of specifications and bill of quantities.

You will be expected to undertake land quality work within the context of inter alia EIA/ESIA, planning support and transaction due diligence. Project involvement typically includes renewable and waste to energy projects, flood alleviation schemes, mixed use development schemes, and industrial sites.

Ongoing contact with project managers, discipline leads and team leaders, and networking within the business group and company as a whole, will be key to the successful execution of the role, both in terms of winning new project work and to ensure continual involvement on current projects.
