Jacobs wins Centrica underground gas storage contract

Centrica has chosen Jacobs to provide “front-end” engineering services on a project that will convert the Caythorpe onshore gas field near Bridlington in east Yorkshire into an underground gas storage facility. Centrica acquired Caythorpe last September. With gas imports to the UK growing, increasing the number of onshore storage facilities is a priority for energy suppliers. Once upgraded, Caythorpe is expected to have a gas storage capacity of up to 7.5 billion cubic feet.
