JBA wins N Ireland flood framework contract
The Northern Ireland Rivers Agency has confirmed that it will continue to employ Skipton-headquartered JBA Consulting, having appointed the consultancy to its strategic flood risk management framework contract. JBA's work will include: flood risk mapping and modelling; completion of preliminary flood risk assessments for river basins and coastal zones; production of “detailed” flood hazard and flood risk maps for those areas identified as having “significant” flood risk; and creation of flood risk management plans. The Rivers Agency has responsibility for both drainage and flood defence within Northern Ireland. Commenting, JBA's chief executive, Jeremy Benn, said: “This is incredibly good news for JBA and allows us to continue our long-standing relationship with The Rivers Agency which extends over 15 years. We look forward to working ... at the forefront of sustainable flood risk management and delivering innovative solutions to meeting the requirements of the EU Floods Directive’.
