A recording of the webinar "Business Strategies for the 2020s: From Crisis to Shaping a Triple Transition," hosted by Environment Analyst on 4 May, is now available free of charge for viewing.

The virtual session provided a window on some of the central themes to be explored at our annual Business Summit, which this year is entitled ‘Leading the transition’, now taking place virtually in June/July (EA Summit 2020 programme).

In the webinar, speakers Chris Fry and Charlene Baker, co-founders of strategy and sustainability consultancy Accelar, revealed insights relevant to consultancy businesses in the context of COVID-19 and put forward their observations on the options for navigating "a decade of transformational change".

Setting out three phases from here onward - namely dealing with the pandemic, restarting, and the future - the presentation covered strategies and tactics for contributing to the triple transition of decarbonisation, recovering natural capital and improving climate resilience.

The speakers analysed enablers of change (including behaviour, green finance, and digital technologies) and also resistors to that change — as well as large events that can affect change trajectories. They also discussed the "ABC" of responsive, strategic thinking (be Aware, be Bold and be Conscious).

Further aspects covered included strategy under uncertainty, how to pinpoint opportunities in emerging markets, pricing in a crisis and how moving into the "white space" of new sectors can lead to transformational growth. A Q&A session extended the discussion into a variety of additional topics, ranging from the circular economy to methods for incentivising change.

Accelar was founded in 2019 to help accelerate the green growth transition.
