Contaminated Land Consultant (Associate or Principal grade), Nottingham

SLR’s European Land Quality team has a well established and busy team of over 38 environmental geology and contaminated land professionals, working across its network of UK offices. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join the team within our existing Nottingham office and provide leadership for the members of the team working within that location. This position provides an opportunity to join a diverse team of earth science specialists, engineers and scientists in a leading multinational consultancy and to take an active role in the future growth and development of our Land Quality & Remediation team.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As well as providing local level leadership to the Nottingham team, the successful candidate will develop, lead and deliver Land Quality projects for clients across a broad spectrum of sectors. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable working within a team and independently to deliver projects and develop business with new and existing clients. You will act as a project manager, write proposals and manage client relationships, and you will be responsible for provision of workload to others in the team and will be expected to mentor and coach others. We would anticipate further growth of the existing local team around the successful candidate. 
As a local leader, you will input into the management of the wider Land Quality team, enhancing and broadening team capacity and capability.
The successful candidate will work across the various sectors in which we operate, in particular built environment, industry, infrastructure and energy.
The role will involve travel across the UK

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • Relevant first degree in engineering geology, or similar applied geoscience;
  • Track record in delivering a range of technical contaminated land and geo-environmental assessments for clients in the UK;
  • Proven leadership skills, with past experience in managing, mentoring and leading a small team of specialist staff in a consultancy environment and achieving or exceeding financial, project performance and health and safety goals;
  • Extensive experience and expertise, particularly in the areas of site investigation, geo-environmental assessment, geological investigation, contaminated land risk assessments and remediation.
  • Chartered or near chartered Member of a relevant professional institution;
  • An established track record in building and maintaining good working relationships with both new and existing clients;
  • Proven relevant experience and technical competence in a consulting environment;
  • Must have a full current driving licence valid in the UK.
