JOB TITLE: Technical Director/Principal

DISCIPLINE TEAM: Flexible

OFFICE LOCATION(S): Any UK Office

REPORTING TO: UK Board Director

WORKING HOURS: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm Monday -Friday

SALARY:  Negotiable, plus excellent benefits

SYNOPSIS:

SLR is an international environmental consultancy with over 1100 employees working globally throughout Europe, the USA, Canada, Africa and Australasia. Headquartered in the UK, SLR is one of a very small number of truly international specialist environmental consultancies.

It provides global advice and support on a wide range of strategic and site-specific issues to a diverse and growing base of business, regulatory and governmental clients. Key areas of SLR’s business are the energy and mining sector where it is involved with both the oil and gas industry, renewable power including wind, energy from waste, hydropower and biomass, and advises mining companies and funding organisations throughout the world. SLR is also the leading consultant to the private sector waste management industry in the UK and undertakes a significant amount of planning and environmental impact assessment work for major commercial developers.

SLR has been developing and expanding its presence in the offshore sector for a number of years and it is now looking for somebody to head up this initiative and further drive business in this area.   SLR is particularly looking for candidates who could drive the development of our environmental consultancy business in the following areas;

  • Offshore renewable energy including both wind as well as wave & tidal;
  • Marine aggregate extraction;
  • Marine cables and pipelines; and
  • Port-related development.

Candidates who have due diligence experience in this sector would be particularly welcome.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for developing SLR’s offshore business sector in the UK although this role will also need to consider and develop global opportunities for business. There would also be the opportunity to develop and shape SLR’s global capability.

The role would be to facilitate, coordinate and develop the business sector, whilst also carrying out chargeable work within the field of their expertise. The position would report into the main SLR Consulting Board and it is expected that the candidate would significantly develop/influence the company’s UK and global offshore strategy.
