Details

We are seeking to expand our environmental policy and economics team by appointing a senior consultant. The team is at the forefront of providing policy, technical and economic advice on the development and implementation of environmental policy.  Focussing on the areas of climate change, air quality and chemicals policy amongst others, we work with the European Commission, UK and other European government departments, international agencies, trade associations and individual companies across Europe and beyond. Our projects help to directly influence the development, implementation and improvement of environmental policy addressing some of the most challenging issues we face.

With excellent opportunities for long term career development, international travel and interaction with clients in a friendly, hardworking environment, you will be joining a well-respected business and will play a key role in delivering our ambitious strategy for consolidation and growth.

Key Responsibilities

Often working in international, multi-disciplinary teams, you will provide policy development and implementation analysis; evaluate existing policy and technical measures; support cost-benefit analyses and carry out stakeholder consultation. You will have the ability to draft reports and deliver verbal presentations in English to a high standard.

As a Senior Consultant, alongside project delivery we are seeking someone who can write winning proposals, manage individual projects, contribute toward business development and aid the development of more junior colleagues. We may also consider appointing at Consultant level.

Role Requirements
The ideal candidate will be qualified to Master’s degree level in environmental policy, science, engineering, law, economics, social sciences or a closely related subject. We would typically around 5 or more years’ relevant experience including sound working knowledge of at least one of our core focus areas:

  • EU and international Chemicals policy
    • This may include REACH, the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), Biocidal Products Regulation or similar.
  • Air quality and other industrial emissions policy
    • Industrial Emissions Directive; development of BREFs; EU and UK air quality legislation; causes and effects of air pollutants; and knowledge of emission abatement measures.
  • Climate Change policy
    • Emission trading systems; monitoring, reporting and verification; emission inventories and projections; conventional and unconventional fuels; low carbon technologies; energy efficiency; energy markets and climate finance.

You will be familiar with the process of policy development and implementation; evaluation of technical and policy measures; cost-benefit analysis; data collection, validation and analysis.

You should have a proven ability to interact with policy makers at national and/or international level.

Previous experience of policy analysis within a consultancy and/or government organisation, a track record in winning, managing and delivering high quality projects on time and to budget and evidence of developing new business in this field, would be an advantage.
