Jacobs has been appointed to support contractor Costain in delivering Highways England’s £8.7bn regional delivery framework. The US-headquartered professional services giant is the latest in a number of consultants and contractors to reveal its place on the framework (EA 20-Nov-18).
The role will see Jacobs collaborate with Costain on the delivery of projects from the framework’s seventh and eighth lots. Lot seven covers England’s East region and is worth £2.8bn, while lot eight covers the North West, North East, Yorkshire and Humber and is worth £2bn. The work will include the development, design and construction of capital road projects transitioning the first and second road investment period. Jacobs will also provide a number of environmental services including: surveying, assessment & appraisal, and environmental design & mitigation.
Other consultancies Arup, PBA (now part of Stantec), Ramboll, RPS, Sweco and WYG have also secured positions on the framework (for environmental support services among others), which is the result of a rethink of Highways England’s procurement model with projects now awarded as part of large, long-term and collaborative commissions as opposed to on a scheme-by-scheme basis (EA 26-Nov-18).
