HS2 tree planting scheme 'is no compensation for loss...

Conservationists have criticised plans to plant more than 650ha of new woodland between London and Birmingham to reduce the visual impact of the first phase of HS2, saying the new trees cannot compensate for the loss of ancient woodland.
