The Role:
An opportunity now exists in the Environmental Quality Team for two experienced and motivated land contamination specialists.

The main focus of these posts is to address land contamination issues through the planning process and implement the councils’ Contaminated Land Strategy. The posts will also cover the regulation of operations covered by Environmental Permits and the enforcement of the ‘polluter pays’ principle ensuring the prevention and remediation of environmental damage.

You will work as part of a larger team who also deal with other duties including air quality.

About You:
The successful candidates should have relevant professional experience, detailed technical knowledge and a good understanding of environmental legislation and how it affects the work of the council. Experience with the planning system is highly desirable.

You will be qualified at a minimum to a degree level in a relevant discipline (e.g. Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology or equivalent).
Excellent verbal and written communication and IT skills are a must and experience of databases, GIS packages and quantitative risk assessment tools is required.
